On the Translation of Dan People’s Saltwater Song in Hainan from the Perspective of Eco-translatology

Abstract

Local folk songs are the pearl of traditional Chinese culture. It is the historical mission of our generation to rescue and excavate local folk songs, so that the ancient folk songs can spread to other corners of the world. The theory of ecological translation provides a good perspective on the foreign translation of folk songs. Starting from the “three dimensions” of linguistic, cultural and communicative dimensions of eco-translatology, this paper translates part of the lyrics of some Dan People’s Saltwater Song in Hainan from the translator’s first perspective, gives full play to the concepts of “translating for something”, “adaptive selection” and “selective adaptation” advocated by eco-translatology, and explores and summarizes the applicability and translation strategies of using eco-translatology in translating local folk songs in practice.
