Students' Emotional Experiences and Information Behavior in the Contexts of Isolated Contact

Meijie Pang

Abstract

In the context of travel restrictions and quarantine policies, some students have to be quarantined at home or in isolation centres, leaving them with very limited contact with the real world. Due to the changes in the environment, such as the difference between online communication and real-time interpersonal communication, the emotions and behaviours of students living in isolation could also change. Therefore, as a member of the community of students, this paper adopts the research method of combining autoethnography and interview to analyze and discuss the individual's isolation experience and interview data through the framework of Sense-Making theory. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the emotional experiences and information behaviour of students in an isolated contact environment through Sense-Making theory and to outline the influencing factors of their anxiety and some solutions.
