A Preliminary Probe into the Ideological and Political Construction of the Course of “American Literature”

Abstract


The ideological and political construction of courses in foreign language education in colleges and universities is an important part of implementing the fundamental task of the party and the country to build morality and cultivate people. As a com-pulsory course for English majors, “American Literature” shoulders the important task of guiding and shaping the value of English majors, which is of great signifi cance for improving the practical ability of ideological and political education of relevant teachers’courses. The American history and culture refl ected in the classic documents and works of “American Literature” are worthy of in-depth consideration by teachers and students. The hostility of the mainstream white patriarchal culture to Native Americans,Indians and other minorities, as well as women in general, refl ected in literature has been sought after and glorifi ed to a certain extent, which is closely related to the long-term manipulation of public opinion by Western politicians.
