A Practical Investigation into the Cultivation of Students’ Cultural Confidence in Higher Vocational English Teaching

Abstract

Cultural self-confidence is the full practice and affirmation of a country, a party and government as well as a nation of its own cultural values. In the new era, it is significant to cultivate students' cultural confidence in higher vocational English teaching. Through the English classroom, students are able to increase their knowledge of Western culture and contrast it with our culture, so as to understand the excellent culture of our nation and improve their cultural confidence. How to teach English in higher education and cultivate students' cultural confidence is discussed in this paper, which proposes the need to follow the principles of interestingness, timeliness and practicality in order to be achieved through extended reading and expanded teaching content.
