A 7.0-magnitude earthquake has killed at least 19 people and injured 247 in China's south-western province of Sichuan. Six tourists are thought to be among the dead, with up to 45,000 people evacuated from the area. The China Ministry of Public Security has activated level-1 emergency response, while Earthquake Administration has now downgraded the response to level-2. The 7.0 earthquake hit Jiuzhaigou County at 09:19 Tuesday (Beijing Time) at a depth of 20 km, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center. Jiuzhaigou is a national park known for its spectacular waterfalls and other beautiful sceneries, many of which were devastated in this earthquake. Emergency response operations have been activated by transport agencies and local airports to aid evacuations and allow rescue vehicles into the area.
