Jun Li, Zhendong Li

Abstract

The Chinese Government attaches great importance to the use of foreign direct investment (FDI) to promote its economic
development, and agriculture is a key industry utilizing FDI. In the context of the continuous optimization of the business environment
for foreign investors in China, FDI in the agriculture sector tends to be small scale, from a relatively small number of stable sources,
concentrated in the eastern region and focused on specific projects. This article summarizes the current situation and characteristics of
foreign direct investment in China’s modern agriculture sector, and provides a reference for foreign investors and relevant policy makers.
