Application of TBL teaching method combined with formative evaluation in clinical probation teaching in infectious disease department

Abstract


Objective: To study the application and eff ect of TBL joint formative evaluation in clinical probation teaching of infectious
diseases, and to explore a new teaching model and evaluation method for clinical probation teaching of infectious diseases. Methods: The
2018 fi ve-year clinical medicine students from Zhongshan Medical College of Sun Yat-sen University were included in our department and
divided into experimental group and control group. TBL teaching was adopted in the experimental group, while traditional teaching method
was adopted in the control group. Formative evaluation was used to evaluate the teaching effect. Results: The experimental group was
superior to the control group in test scores, daily homework scores and classroom performance, and the overall satisfaction with internship,
teaching mode, teaching eff ect and teaching level was signifi cantly higher than that of the control group (P < 0.05). The teachers’ teaching
ability was improved. Conclusion: The combined formative evaluation of TBL teaching method can achieve synergistic eff ect in the clinical
probation teaching of infectious diseases, which is helpful to improve the teaching quality.
