A comparative analysis of English and Chinese vocabulary from the perspective of culture

Abstract


language is the carrier of culture, which is of great signifi cance to the expression of meaning and cultural inheritance. In
the cross-cultural context, vocabulary carries and transmits the corresponding cultural information. The most basic and active component
of the language system is vocabulary. By analyzing and comparing the similarities and diff erences in the cultural meaning of English and
Chinese vocabulary, we can more accurately grasp the diff erences between English and Chinese, and improve the accuracy of cross-cultural
communication ability and Chinese-English bilingual translation activities.
