A Study on Teaching English as a Foreign Language in Rural High Schools from the Perspective of Core Literacy

Abstract


In 2020, the Chinese Ministry of Education revised the English curriculum standards for general high schools, and the spoken English in language ability, which is one of the core literacy, is often neglected in some schools, especially in rural areas where students' speaking skills are weaker. This project is based on the English curriculum standards for general high schools, and through a study of the current development of English teaching in some rural areas in China, it focuses on the speaking part, investigates the reasons behind it by subject, and proposes corresponding strategies and methods to improve the speaking skills of high school students in rural areas and develop their intercultural communication skills.
