Minhui Li

Abstract

This paper is devoted to the reform of the teaching mode of listening course for English majors in application-oriented universities. In the context of globalization and the information age, English listening is a key component of language competence, and the optimization of its teaching methods and models is particularly important. In the face of increasing communication needs and diversifi ed channels of receiving information, the traditional listening teaching mode-mainly relying on textbooks and teachers-shows its limitations. This model has shortcomings in developing students’ listening comprehension, critical thinking and practical application skills, and it is difficult to meet the current educational environment and the diversity of students’ needs. In view of this, by analyzing the limitations of the current teaching mode, and combining with specifi c teaching practice and cases, a new mode of teaching reform is proposed to improve the teaching quality of listening courses and promote the professional development of students.
