An Innovative Exploration of Interdisciplinary and Practical Teaching in Book Design Courses of Visual Communication Design in Colleges and Universities

Abstract


The purpose of this paper is to explore the teaching innovation attempt in the teaching of "Book Design" in the major of visual communication design in colleges and universities. Through the introduction of interdisciplinary integration and practical teaching strategies, it aims to improve the practicality and interdisciplinarity of the curriculum, and cultivate students' practical ability to solve problems creatively. Interdisciplinary integration elaborates on the introduction of psychology, marketing and other related fi eld knowledge, combined with other professional cooperation projects, and encourages students to exercise their collaborative skills in practical projects. Practical teaching enables students to deepen their practical practice and improve their practical problem-solving skills through design workshops, fi eld trips, and students' participation in real-world projects in the curriculum of the International College of Nanjing University of Media and Communication. The teaching innovation strategy explored in this paper has injected new vitality into the visual communication design major courses in colleges and universities, and cultivated students who are more suitable for the needs of industry talents.
