Abstract

In the 21st century, the development of professional erhu can reach today’s development level, in which Liu Tianhua played a fundamental role. In the process of the transformation of modern Chinese music from traditional to modern, Liu Tianhua advocated to create a new path for the development of Chinese music through the combination of Chinese and Western music. The idea of the improvement of national music advocated by him has far-reaching influence. Liu Tianhua was an outstanding national music creator, innovator of national instruments and music education expert during the New Culture Movement. He deeply loved national music and made significant contributions to the progress of China’s erhu art.
