The Significance and Development Paths of Local Internationalization in Higher Education

Abstract


Since the 1990s, many countries have adopted local internationalization as an effective approach to rectify the inequitable distribution of higher education resources caused by traditional modes of internationalization. The implementation of local internationalization holds significant value, as it not only optimizes the allocation of educational resources and promotes educational equity but also drives reforms in educational concepts, contents, and methodologies while fostering the development of globally-minded talents. To achieve the internationalization of higher education in China, it is crucial to establish a robust implementation mechanism, actively promote the utilization of digital technology, and construct an international exchange platform.
