Interdisciplinary Integration Approaches for Dance Education in Secondary School

Abstract


The Outline of the National Program for Medium- and Long-Term Educational Reform and Development (2010-2020) sets forth a clear goal: to innovate models of talent development. It encourages educators to pursue interdisciplinary educational activities vigorously, with the aim of nurturing students’ innovative spirit and practical skills. Dance education in secondary schools plays a pivotal role in enhancing students’ aesthetic sense, physical conditioning, self-confidence, and expressiveness. By integrating with disciplines such as physical education, health sciences, and psychology, it effectively marshals a range of academic resources to boost students’ comprehensive development. This thesis anchors on the teaching essence of dance within the framework of interdisciplinary integration at the secondary level, thoroughly examining its current educational practices. It outlines feasible strategies for implementing such integrated teaching in secondary school dance programs, providing practical insights for teachers on the ground.
