The “Chinese-Western Music Contest” debate has been central to modern music history’s development and has significantly impacted Chinese music art, cultural identity, and national confidence. It has split the music field into two camps: one supports complete Westernization and learning from the Western music system, while the other focuses on preserving Chinese traditional music and advocates for a blend of Western advantages with traditional elements.
