Research on the Correlation Between Physical Fitness and BMI Index of College Students

Endong Chen

Abstract

This paper aims to study the correlation between college students' physical fitness and Body Mass Index (BMI) to provide a reference for the formulation of a physical fitness evaluation system in colleges and universities. Methods: Physical fitness monitoring data from 10,000 college students at a university in Zhaoqing were collected, and independent sample T-tests and one-way ANOVA were used to explore the correlation between different BMI indices and physical fitness indicators. The results indicate that there is a significant correlation between college students' BMI indices and their physical fitness. Overweight and obese college students generally have poorer physical fitness, while those with normal weight demonstrate better physical fitness.
