Analysis of Product and Process Approach in EFL Writing Teaching

Dan Li

Abstract

This paper focuses on English writing teaching in EFL classrooms, emphasizing the analysis of the theories behind the product approach and the process approach as well as their teaching implications. The product approach helps improve students’ awareness of grammar usage and reduce grammatical errors, but may overemphasize form and neglect content. The process approach, based on cognitivism, focuses on writing process and values feedback.
