The Construction of Chinese Cultural Discourse in English and American Literature Curriculum under the Bidirectional Cross-cultural Awareness Training Model

Abstract


As the core course to cultivate the language ability and humanistic quality of college English majors, the teaching process of British and American literature should focus on cultivating students’ sensitivity to the difference between Chinese and Western cultures, and promote the growth of students’ two-way cross-cultural awareness. This paper aims to combine the two-way cross-cultural awareness training model with teaching practice, and through the analysis of teaching cases, explore ways to construct Chinese cultural discourse in British and American literature classes, so as to solve the problem of one-way cultural input in British and American literature teaching, improve the teaching methods of British and American literature courses, and enhance students’ cognition and sense of identity of traditional Chinese culture and virtues.
