Research Review on the Realist Trend in Li Peifu’s Novels
Abstract
Li Peifu holds a unique position in contemporary Chinese literature. Her novels explore the alienation of individuals under the temptation and influence of political power through the depiction of plain culture and the rural populace. Political power serves as a symbolic representation of class identity, while alienation, a key term in modern philosophy, is often used to describe the living conditions of humanity. In Li Peifu’s works, under the lure of political power, people reveal the most vulnerable aspects of human nature. The alienation in her novels is examined from two dimensions: natural attributes and social attributes.
