An Evaluation Plan: English Composition Course with Lab (3+1 credits)

Abstract


This evaluation plan proposes to revise the first-year English writing course (ENG101) to transform it into a 3+1 credit course by adding one hour of lab instruction per week to address the various academic writing challenges faced by students, espe-cially international learners. There are common issues that exist among freshman students, including limited writing skills, struc-tural and rhetorical difficulties, and plagiarism risks. Based on system theory and logic model design, the plan outlines strategies for course improvement. The proposal positions ENG101 with Lab (3+1 credits) as a strategic investment in educational equity and institutional excellence.
