The Promotion and Dissemination of the Spirit of Educators through Original Dance Works from the Perspective of Choreographic Creation: A Case Study of the Original Dance Work The One Who Leads the Course

Hang Yin

Abstract

In September 2023, General Secretary Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory letter to outstanding teachers, proposing the uniquely Chinese concept of the spirit of educators and urging teachers to “take educators as role models and promote the spirit of educators.” In his report at the 20th National Congress of the CPC, Xi emphasized that contemporary artists and writers should possess conviction, sentiment, and responsibility, integrate personal pursuits with the nation’s future, and contribute to the country and people. As a young university dance educator, the author recognizes that teachers, as the foundation of education, bear the mission of guiding and disseminating knowledge. Guided by Xi Jinping’s cultural thought, committed educators must actively advance the educational spirit of the new era. This paper, from the perspective of choreographic creation, uses the original dance work The One Who Leads the Course as a case study to examine how dance can embody and convey the spirit of educators, highlighting core values such as “selfless dedication” and “nurturing talent.”
