The Significance, Core Content, and Practical Paths for Enhancing University Counselors’ Psychological Counseling Capabilities

Abstract


University is a critical period for college students to shape their values. With social development, psychological issues among college students have become increasingly prominent. Without timely intervention and counseling, these issues may trigger extreme incidents and even alter students’ life trajectories. As the core force in daily management, psychological counseling, and ideological guidance for college students, counselors serve as companions and guardians on their path to growth. This paper focuses on enhancing counselors’ psychological counseling capabilities, analyzes the necessity and urgency of improving such capabilities at the current stage, systematically elaborates on the core content of counselors’ psychological counseling work, and further explores effective paths to enhance these capabilities.
