Official-Fan Collaboration: Narrative Aesthetics in the Cross-Border Dissemination of The Legend of Hei 2

Yuyu Sun , Xiaoxiao Cao

Abstract

This paper takes The Legend of Hei 2 as a case to explore successful strategies for Chinese animation’s global dissemination. It argues that the film gains cross-cultural appeal through content adaptation: converting traditional Eastern hierarchies into universal “companion communities,” and internalizing Eastern aesthetics naturally. At the dissemination level, it fosters a symbiotic official-fan ecosystem—where fans actively interpret and create, while official channels engage openly— forming a virtuous cycle of emotional resonance and content spread. Integrating elements from Japanese and Korean models, it advances a distinctive Chinese “official-fan” dynamic, offering a new cultural export paradigm.
