Construction and Practical Exploration of Aesthetic Education Evaluation System in Universities

Abstract

With the growing importance of aesthetic education in higher education, establishing a rational and efficient aesthetic education evaluation mechanism has become a core driver for advancing aesthetic education at universities to a higher developmental level. Although domestic universities have achieved initial progress in aesthetic education evaluation, they are still confronted with prominent challenges including utilitarian evaluation objectives, incomplete indicator frameworks, simplistic evaluation methods, and a narrow scope of participating subjects. These obstacles severely hinder the accurate assessment of aesthetic education outcomes and the improvement of students’ aesthetic competence. Therefore, it is urgent to develop a holistic, comprehensive and operable evaluation system for university aesthetic education to address the above defi ciencies.When designing evaluation indicators, the criteria must balance learning processes and final outcomes, mastery of theoretical knowledge and cultivation of inner emotions, technical training and comprehensive quality development. Accordingly, the evaluation scope should cover multiple dimensions such as teaching quality of aesthetic courses, implementation of extracurricular practical activities, construction of campus cultural environments, and the progressive growth of students’ aesthetic literacy.In terms of evaluation methods, a combined framework of quantitative statistical measurement and qualitative subjective assessment shall be adopted. The system shall integrate professional comments from instructors, students’ self-reflections, peer evaluations, and feedback from the public. Modern information technology tools shall be utilized to collect and analyze relevant data, so as to enhance the scientificity and eff ectiveness of evaluation work.From the perspectives of practical implementation and supporting guarantees, universities shall prioritize rational organizational structure design, strengthen professional training for teaching staff , optimize institutional mechanisms, and guarantee sufficient financial and material resources. Only in this way can the evaluation system operate smoothly and achieve iterative improvement. Ultimately, the system will facilitate the all-round advancement of students’ aesthetic capacity and humanistic accomplishment, and provide valuable practical references for the reform and development of aesthetic education in universities.
