Translation and Publications of William Faulkner's Short Stories in China
Abstract
William Faulkner’s short stories has been translated and published for more than 80 years. The first translated story appeared in 1934, with many other stories rendered into Chinese ever since. Selected Novellas and Short Stories of William Faulkner in 1985 marked the beginning of collection publishing, and after 2012 more collections came out. Generations of translators like Li Wenjun have made invaluable contribution to the popularization of Faulkner in China. However, there have been existing some problems to be noted, for example, over-translated certain stories, homogeneous criticism and unstandardized term translation.
