Analysis of the Excellent Course Construction and Teaching Methods of the Undergraduate Applied Engineering Mechanics

Zhiyong Li

Abstract

The Engineering Mechanics course is an important basic knowledge that engineering professionals should master. The course content of engineering mechanics is abstract so that many teachers in undergraduate colleges are trying a variety of teaching methods. However, the course has not achieved good results in the real-life teaching, which has been exerting a very adverse influence on the students’subsequent specialized courses. Therefore, application-oriented undergraduate colleges should actively perfect their teaching methods for the Engineering Mechanics Course and make corresponding reforms in teaching assessment and other aspects. Therefore, this article comprehensively discusses how to turn engineering mechanics into an excellent course for application-oriented undergraduate majors from the perspectives of course content and evaluation. It also discusses the teaching methods of the course in terms of case explanations, practices, teaching effect, quality, while cultivating students’interest and knowledge to improve their comprehensive ability in problem-solving and innovation.
