Abstract

The era of moral destruction made the hero Holden in The catcher in the rye fell into spiritual distress and felt a strong "moral sense of loss". He wished to be a spiritual catcher in the Rye to create his own moral Utopia. When he gradually got a little direction in the complex and hypocritical adult world, he was pulled back to reality. In the end, he had no choice but to reconcile with reality, nowhere to put his own moral spirit, his mental breakdown, no interest in life, and assimilation by society.
