Translation of English Movie Subtitles from the Perspective of Contextual Adaptation Theory

Abstract

With the development of modern society and economy gradually entering the global diversification phase, there are more and more channels of film and television culture transmission. As an important carrier of information dissemination in different regions of countries and even between nationalities, the screen culture plays an extremely important role in the communication of film and television culture. Due to the language and cultural background between different countries and ethnic groups, there are great cultural differences. Therefore, subtitle translation has become an important way of expressing information conversion between different languages and cultures. In the actual context, it is possible to convert the information dynamically. Therefore, from the perspective of contextual adaptation, colleges have been constantly innovating the forms and methods of English movie subtitle translation to better realize the communication and sharing between different film and television cultures.
