The Application of TBL Case Teaching Method in the Course of Biochemistry

Abstract


Biochemistry is a compulsory course for medical-related majors. We used the TBL case teaching method to teach.
The method uses teamwork to carry out group and collective discussions. It is suitable for situations where there are many
students and few teachers, and small class case teaching is not possible. It can help students combine basic knowledge with
clinical applications. We have compiled a TBL case for the content of chapter 3 “enzymes”. Teachers give questions in depth
according to the logical relationship, and the group discusses them step by step, which inspires the students’ independent
thinking and exploration spirit. Evaluations are given by within-group, between-group, and teacher scoring. This provides a
basis for the reform of case teaching in the future and the improvement of classroom teaching effects.
