Comparison on Similarities and Differences Between Pragmatism and Pragmatic Reason
Abstract
Pragmatism and pragmatic reason are a pair of philosophical concepts with not only connections but also divergences, therefore similarities and differences between them will be comparatively analyzed in this thesis from three dimensions including the theoretical basis, theories of truth, as well as empiricism. Through comparative analysis, it is concluded that many similarities are shared between the two, but fundamental differences exist. While the concepts are clarified, the inspirations are targeted for promoting cultural exchanges and mutual learning between China and the West through comparative studies.
