Emerging Design and Technology in Smart Cities-Governance Model, Behavior, and Technology Outline

Di Wang

Abstract

Human settlement has evolved over the centuries. However, cities that were designed before the invention of automobiles still retain something of the old idea of a community or neighborhood where people live close to services, amenities, and each other. In order to create a future city that provides a healthy life and a balance of economy and culture, I am making this plan to emerging housing, energy, and distributed infrastructure solutions by building affordable housing, micro-grid green energy systems, smart city infrastructures, 5g, and blockchain technologies. Taking the city of San Francisco as an example, the behaviors that I double like to change in the community are expansive housing, transportation, energy-wasting, and the city infrastructures. Parking, traffic, car crime, and air pollution. Affordable housing will increase the population in the urban area and in that case, it will make the energy using more efficient. The peer-to-peer micro-grids green energy system will build up on the energy storage technology for the batteries in communities, multifamily houses to be able to share and store green energies such as solar power or wind The smart city infrastructures such as automatic vehicles, smart trust cans, smart lights, and so on would apply the service without taking place and also generate real-time data in the city that help with organizing the urban flow. The blockchain technology would apply to this system to ensure the security of the data and decentralized to make it has less damage when met major disasters. The 5G technology will apply faster and more affordable internet speed, build up on that, more and more application and service would be possible to serve the citizen across the neighborhood. Combining all that together for city development would create a more affordable, healthy development, sustainable, and diverse city.
