Feasibility Analysis of Incorporating Expressive Arts into Mental Health Curriculum in Primary and Secondary Schools

Abstract


In the current mental health education in primary and secondary schools (PASS), most of them are based on psychology, and take individual psychological counseling, group counseling, mental health lectures, and mental health courses. But this is not enough. The means of mental health education for primary and middle school students need to be more enriched and diversified. Based on the related theoretical research on expressive arts, this paper studies and analyzes the feasibility of incorporating expressive arts into the mental health curriculum of PASS, analyzes its mechanism of action, and uses the mental health curriculum of PASS to help more primary and secondary school students build mental health. The goal is to strengthen the mental health education of primary and secondary school students, and to promote the development of mental health education theory and basis. Through a series of feasibility analyses of incorporating expressive arts into the mental health curriculum of PASS, this paper helps to understand the emotional regulation self-efficacy of primary and secondary school students, as well as their own level of mental health. The final experimental results show that the mental health of students who have learned to incorporate expressive arts into the mental health curriculum of PASS is 93.5%, 92.4%, 94.7%, 93.3% and 94.1% respectively. After the intervention of expressive arts, the mental health level of students has been significantly improved. The results show that it is feasible to incorporate expressive arts into the mental health curriculum of PASS, and the program has certain application and promotion value.
