The Signifi cance of Developing Online Education and“Internationalization at Home” for Universities in Western China

Abstract


With the outbreak of the COVID-19, the epidemic has caused people to face diffi culties in communicating cross-border,which has brought the traditional international development of Chinese universities to a standstill in the current global situation.Especially for Chinese universities located in the western part of China, the shortage of educational resources and the loss of in-ternational talents make the development of western universities struggling. In this context, the concept of “Internationalization at Home” and the popularization of online education have become the remedy for the internationalization development of western Chinese universities. This paper describes the background of “IaH”, discusses the connotation of “IaH” and online education, and analyzes the signifi cance and approaches to cultivate internationalized talents in western Chinese universities.
