The Development Situation and Challenges of Overseas Universities in China under the Background of “One Belt and One Road”

Zeyuan Zhang

Abstract

The construction of "One Belt and One Road" advocates Chinese universities to "go out" and promote the integration and development of regional education. Overseas branch campuses are a form of transnational education that is developing rapidly. Relying on the brand and resources of the parent university, overseas campuses operate independently or cooperate with the government of the importing country to provide courses and degrees for students in the importing country. Overseas campuses are both commercial in pursuing profit and academic in education. In the context of the increasingly fierce competition in international higher education, the study of the current situation and problems of the construction of Chinese overseas campuses can provide a reference for Chinese higher education to go global further.
