The Practice of Cultivating Students’ Cross-cultural Awareness in Primary Schools — Relying on English Picture Books of Foreign Cultures

Abstract


In the Outline of the National Medium and Long term Education Reform and Development Plan (2010-2020), it is pointed out that education for international understanding should be strengthened, cross-cultural exchanges should be promoted, and students' understanding of different countries and cultures should be enhanced. A large number of international talents who have an international vision, are familiar with international rules, and can participate in international affairs and international competition should be cultivated. Therefore we can take foreign culture as the starting point and English picture books as the carrier to build a platform of identification, understanding, application and communication and help students in primary schools better establish cross-cultural awareness and enhance cross-cultural communication ability.
