Research on the Current Situation and Effect of the Spread of Mandarin in Singapore under the Background of China-Asean Partnership

Abstract


In the context of China-Asean partnership and cooperation, to further strengthen political and security cooperation, economic cooperation and people-to-people exchanges,the value of language has cecome a topic concerned to all academic circles in multi-ethic nations. Under the leadership of the government, Singapore has carried out a campaign to promote Chinese, which aims to preserve and spread traditional cultural values through Chinese, break the language barrier of non-dialect groups, and greatly promote the communication of Chinese society, enhance social cohesion and strengthen the identity of Chinese Singaporeans. This paper analyzes the current spread of Mandarin in Singapore and its effects. Under the guidance of such historical background and policies, the exchanges and contacts with China have become increasingly close, which has better promoted the economic and cultural development of the two countries.
