The Study on Metapragmatic Functions of the Discourse Marker So in Two Broke Girls
Abstract
The paper focuses on the conversations of American sitcom Two Broke Girls (Season 3) from the perspective of metapragmatics. It shows that discourse marker so plays 6 metapragmatic functions in the conversational interaction such as transition marker, turn-taking marker, inference marker, emotion marker, mitigation marker and contemplation marker.
