Bing Yang

Abstract

As a major channel for the public to receive information, news media plays an important role in shaping and infl uencing the national image. In the broad sense of texts, news reporting has become an important text for studying the construction of a country’s image. News texts, especially those reports with “objectivity” and “balance” and the transparency in the fi rst time and fi rst scene refl ect the hard function of news media in shaping a country’s image. This paper mainly analyzes the duality of China’s national image construction in news texts and its impact from the self-shaping and other-shaping perspective. At the same time, some strategies and methods on how to enhance China’s national image under self-shaping and other-shaping are proposed.
