A Critical Thinking on the Unfair Distribution of Educational Resources Between Urban and Rural Areas in China

Abstract


Education fairness and quality are currently one of the most criticized topics, especially the uneven and insuffi cient development of compulsory education, which has become a pain point in China’s education. The author of this article first proposes that the imbalance in the development of compulsory education in China at the present stage is mainly reflected in the imbalance in investment in compulsory education between urban and rural areas, the gap in school-running conditions between urban and rural areas, educational resources, and teacher quality, and then analyzes that the imbalance in regional economic development is the basic reason for the imbalance in the development of compulsory education in China; Other reasons for the imbalance in education include the unreasonable allocation of educational resources and the imbalance in the development of compulsory education. To thoroughly solve these problems, it is necessary to strengthen management and reform in such aspects as strengthening the reform of the educational management system, seeking a balanced allocation of educational resources, strengthening school management, and improving the quality of teachers.
