Congshu Wang

Abstract

The ethics of modern biotechnology controversies, including: human-animal genetic hybrid technology, ethical controversies over human cloning, medical experiments on fertilized eggs, and physician-assisted euthanasia. While some in the medical community believe that an embryo with a heartbeat and nervous system is a human being, many scholars believe that a fertilized egg is already a human being and deserves the protection and respect of a human being.
Controversial views on biotechnology include: infringement on the sovereignty of life and death, off ense to human dignity, materialization and commodifi cation of life, challenges to traditional reproductive and familial relationships, and overly arrogant eugenics policies.
Bioethics scholars demand that human beings should value the dignity of life and actively promote its meaning and value. Respect and protect the dignity and value of human beings. This has a very positive impact on the moral controversies arising from modern biotechnology, and has a deep meaning, as well as providing guidelines and refl ections on the development of reproductive technology.
