A Comparison of the Artistic Features of the Book of Songs and Shakespeare’s Love Poems

Abstract


The Book of Songs in China and Shakespeare’s Sonnets are similar in their birth period, subject matter and literary status, and have strong comparability. Based on the theory of stratifi cation of works by Ingarden, the main representative of contemporary phenomenological aesthetics, this paper makes a comparative study of the artistic picture layer of works between the Book of Poetry in China and Shakespeare’s Sonnets, and analyzes the diff erent aesthetic ideals of countries with diff erent civilizations in China and the West.
