Wanheng Zhong, Xingyuan Zhang

Abstract

This paper aims to explore the principles and applications of semiotics in the design of regional cultural and creative intellectual property (IP) characters. Symbols, as meaningful and functional signs, transmit specific cultural information by relating to people’s cognition and cultural experiences. The design of regional cultural and creative IP characters draws upon regional culture and imaginative creativity to construct characters with unique personalities and regional characteristics. Through the practical application of the design of Chaozhou tea culture IP characters, symbolized character images are closely linked to regional culture, conveying the spirit and distinctive features of the region’s culture while enhancing the brand’s allure and market value.
