China Ideological and Political Education in the New Media Era: Strengths, Challenges and Suggestions

Abstract


Since the 20th century, ideological and political education experiences transformation with technological advances. It is vital to deliver high quality ideology and politics education in the new media era. This article analyses the recent literature of ideological and political education of Chinese college in the new media era. The review focuses on the strengths and the challenges of the teaching and learning with new media. Literature shows that the application of new media in ideological and political education ease the teaching and learning process besides enhancing both synchronous and asynchronous learning experience. However, disconnection was identifi ed between students’ ideology and social participation. Besides, some college students revealed diff erent evaluation standards and ideas through the new media platforms. To deal with the challenges, the educators must enhance their media literacy. Both the teachers and the student have to keep up with the progress of technology.
