A Reflection on the Candidates’ Pre-Contest Preparation for the SFLEP Cup English Speech Contest for Chongqing Non-governmental Colleges

Abstract


A well-planned pre-contest preparation helps the contest candidates alleviate stage fright, reduce uncertainties, and increase the chance of victory. The pre-contest preparation involves constructive coach-and-student(s) rapport, an in-depth understanding of the contest, linguistic and non-linguistic factors, the exercises of critical thinking, and psychological strategies.
