The New Trend of the Female Image and Discourse Dilemma in Strong Female Protagonist Series in China- A Case Study of Rose War

Abstract


With the awakening of women’s gender awareness and the development of media technology in China, women’s issues have gradually moved from the private sphere into the public space. This paper analyzes the new situation of female image in Strong Female protagonist by means of the case study of “Rose War”, It is found that strong female protagonist series have gradually gone beyond the narrow scope of harem and family, based on social life, and directly hit the points of the society, showing the diverse and complex female images in multiple relationships, providing issues for discussion on the identity and value of women and their existential dilemmas in the public arena, and stimulating more women’s consciousness of their subjective awareness. However,due to the shackles of Narcissism,consumerist and patriarchal cultures, it presents even more complicated discourse dilemmas.
