An Analysis of Attire and Teacher-Student Relationship on the Documentary Chinese School in Intercultural Perspective

Abstract


This essay, based on the Hofstede’s value dimension, especially in regard of individualism and collectivism, and power distance, analyzed attire and teacher-student relationship in the BBC documentary, Chinese School, in order to explain the cultural conflicts behind
them in a novel aspect. The study found that Chinese education values collectivism and power distance has great impact on the
teacher-student relationship as well as the teaching model, while British education is more about individuality and equal teacher-student relationships.
