This paper adopts a combination of quantitative and qualitative research methods, mainly discussing the current situation of TPACK and teaching beliefs of English teachers in Lhasa middle schools, and the correlation between them. The results show that the overall level of TPACK and teaching beliefs of middle school English teachers in Lhasa is relatively reasonable, but the development of each dimension is not balanced. Middle school English teachers' TPACK is moderately correlated with teaching beliefs.

This research explored the effect of Project-Based Learning (PBL) on English as a foreign language (EFL) learners’ comfort level in oral English in China. The participants included 30 students of a public junior high school in Shanghai. The intervention comprised a one month’s oral English course between two groups - respectively taught through PBL and conventional approach. Quantitative data were collected from a followed-up survey. The result indicated a significant higher comfort level in oral English among learners taught through PBL. The research recommended the integration of PBL to raise learners’ confidence in speaking English.

In the era of digital economy, the transformation of China's art education in the training mode of digital talents in vocational colleges is the only way for vocational colleges to actively adapt to the national economic and industrial pattern and cultivate a large number of High-quality talents and big country craftsmen for the economic society. Digital empowerment has the characteristics of facing regions, markets, industries, employment and everyone. In the digital economic society, art education has an irreplaceable mission in the development of vocational colleges in the digital skilled talents.

The rhetorical devices contained in both The Call of the Wild written by Jack London and its Chinese version translated by Sun Fali are analyzed from the perspective of the functional equivalent theory, with the aim of figuring out which translation strategy can be best applied into representing the effect of rhetorical devices appeared in original language in the target language. Detailed contrasts and comparisons are adopted as the main method to explore translation strategies used in translating rhetorical devices in literatures. The feasibility of applying functional equivalence in translating the rhetorical devices in the novel can be approved. And literal translation and free translation strategies distinguish themselves in translating the rhetorical devices in different contexts.

The discipline of "Oriental philosophy" in China originated from the eastern and western cultures at the beginning of the 20th century. Among them, the Book of Changes is a branch of western and eastern philosophy that is understood and practiced by academia. Its history can be traced back to the strengthening of cultural and economic ties between Europe and the East in the early modern times. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, influenced by the international and domestic situation at that time, some universities and research institutes began to set up research institutions of oriental philosophy. A large number of comprehensive oriental philosophical and cultural works were produced, and the discussion of the value of eastern and western cultures also set off another wave at the end of the 20th century. The history of philosophy understood and practiced by modern philosophy in academia can be traced back to the strengthening of cultural and economic ties between Europe and the East in early modern times.

This paper explores both nostalgia and escapism in "Downton Abbey", which is set in 1910s Yorkshire, a fictional Manor - "Downton Abbey", the story begins in the entanglements of Grantham’s family caused by inheritance, shows the British nobles and servants in the strict hierarchy of human attitudes. Through a close examination about the current and past Britain social condition such as class, social inequality, economics and class conflicts, cultural attitudes, this article compares Downton Abbey’s plot and the actual situation of the past Britain, and analyses the reasons that make this series popular. This drama shows that the Great Britain is powerful in many aspects, including politics, economy and culture, it offers a portrait of history that present a splendour of the Edwardian age—the fabulous clothing, lavish dinners, the garden parties, the foxhunts, the shooting lunches furniture, crystal lamps as well as dazzling etiquette.In fact, the United Kingdom is no longer the most powerful country in the world at that time, the economy of American and German had exceed UK in 1910s to 1930s. It finds out that the popularity which actually is a reflection of the contemporary nostalgia and escapism. It indicates that collective nostalgia may reveal underlying current cultural value which is escaping from the reality, because people were not satisfied with their lives today and they were addicted to the illusions that were shown on the drama.

J. House’s model of Translation Quality Assessment (TQA) is commonly regarded as systemic and objective. However, based on the contrastive study of the linguistic and cultural features between English and German, the model also bears unavoidable limitations when it is applied to language pairs like Chinese and English. This paper discusses the inapplicability of House’s model caused by the dichotomy of overt and covert translation. Examples of translation in Chinese and English will be given for illustration. Two probable solutions are provided accordingly.

Vocational education is an indispensable booster of economic and social development. Power, on May 1, 2022, the newly revised Law of the People's Republic of China on Vocational Education was officially implemented, which once again clarifies from the jurisprudence level that vocational education is a type of education with the same importance as general education. Optimizing the vocational education system and promoting high-quality development of vocational education should follow the inherent laws of vocational education development and adapt to the overall situation of economic development and social changes^[1] .

American short story writer, Lydia Davis’s writing style is famous for the “brevity but emotion”. In 2013, Davis was awarded the Man Booker International Prize and this brought her a world reputation. Since then, a growing number of scholars have attracted by her stories. Based on a close reading of some of Lydia Davis’s short stories, this thesis makes a detailed analysis of the metaphor use in the novels and explores the deep meanings and effects brought by metaphor.

Computer basic education is oriented by computational thinking, which is the general consensus of university education at home and abroad. At present, there are still many problems in the teaching of C language public basic courses in China, which lack of attention to students' professional background and learning needs, and cannot adapt to the diversified and personalized development of students.This paper discusses how to reform the programming teaching of C language based on the training of new engineering and technical talents and discipline integration, and discusses the aspects of teaching content, teaching methods and teaching examples.

Discussion on promoting the international communication capacity building takes the goal of improving the international discourse power as the practical goal, taking the establishment of the discourse system as the practical path, and telling the China’s story well as the practical basis. Research findings are generated through literature study and in depth semi-structured interviews are analyzed under the guidance of rooted theory, empirical pedagogical experiences are discussed with the path and teaching ideas of college English course based on the concept of OBE, and finally further implications are drawn for the cultivation of culture communication in an international view among medical students. Upon the perspective of culture confidence, this paper probes into the abilities of culture communication of medical students and the problems with the purpose of establishing a more effective training path so as to realize the ideological education and boost culture confidence among medical students.

The novel Desert Rites is a representative work by the famous Chinese writer Xuemo. The novel tells the story of a rural Chinese family and includes many culture-loaded words. Those culture-loaded words contain rich vernacular cultural elements that are difficult to translate, which poses a major challenge to the translator's translation ability. This analysis takes the culture-loaded words as the research object, studies the translation strategies adopted by translators, and analyses the influence of these translation strategies on the accuracy and loyalty of the translated work. The analysis finds that, when necessary, the translator needs to further explain the culture-loaded words to ensure that the readers can accurately understand the translated work.

The online learning model is rapidly becoming a new way of learning. As with any learning  model,  learner  motivation  needs  to  be  carefully  monitored  as  it  is  one  of  the  most influential factors on student learning. Within this growing group of online learners are international students, and their motivation levels are important for their learning. With a large proportion of international  students  in higher  education in New Zealand, the international  student population cannot  be  ignored.  This  study  explored  the  experiences  of  Chinese   international  students' motivation levels in an online learning environment at an established higher education institution in New Zealand. This study used a mixed methods approach to understand students' motivation and engagement when learning online at a higher education institution in New Zealand. The analysis of Chinese international students' views and experiences will provide educators in higher education institutions with useful insights into how the use of online learning can increase or decrease Chinese international students' motivation.
