Section Collection Information
Dear Colleagues,
Fiber, as a new material, is widely applied in the construction and maintenance of engineering structures due to its environment protection, light weight, high strength, durability and tenacity. Thus, application of fiber can lead to rapid development of construction of structure in full-service life and safe operation and maintenance.
The crossing ability and service life of structures, such as bridge girders, airport terminals and gymnasiums, can be highly improved resulted from many advantages of fiber over other materials. For example, fiber is utilized in processing and manufacturing of high-performance fiber-truss composite structures and prefabrication of high-performance concrete structures, and also reinforcement of in-service concrete structures in the past few decades. However, some properties associated with high temperature, blast, impact and fatigue of fiber materials need be investigated to further improve application ability of fiber. The mechanical behavior of fiber-reinforced structures need to be revealed to enhance safety performance and durability in structures, thus promoting development of technologies in fiber reinforcement.
In this Section collection about fiber reinforcement, we are interested in topics including manufacture and composition and mechanical properties of fiber material, development of high-performance fiber material, and also the mechanical behavior and durability and safety together with economy performance in fiber-reinforced structures. Research and review in all these aspects of investigation, together with diverse experience, or theories and methodologies for their application and study are welcome.
We look forward to receiving your contributions.
